When designing this course O'Connor said, "I wanted one hole where it was just oranges. The whole of this part of the Algarve is blessed with thousands of acres of orange groves and I wanted to bring some inside the course as well. I have managed to create such a hole, the fifth, which has orange groves left and right and is a real beauty to play."
The front 9 holes encounter a number of lakes, while holes 7, 8 and 9 offer a particular challenge, where the water hazards mean concentration is key.
Hole number 10 leads away from the northern boundary, setting up the challenge for the inward nine. Large bodies of water will test players all the way to the 18th, and this final hole will require players to drive with pinpoint accuracy to set up the approach shot to a two-tier green.
